Md Mahfuz Al Mamun, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow, joined our group in April of 2025.

I earned my PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Science and Technology of China, where I built a strong foundation in cellular and molecular biology, paving the way for my contributions for translational research. During April 2022-March 2023, I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Regenerative Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. My research focused on advancing disease modeling through the integration of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), embryonic stem cells (ESCs), CRISPR genome-editing technologies, transcriptomics, and functional genomics. My work leveraged cutting-edge platforms such as 3D human organoids to elucidate disease mechanisms and develop innovative therapeutic strategies. With an interdisciplinary approach spanning Cell Biology, Regenerative Medicine, Genetics, and Microbiology, I am dedicated to bridging fundamental science and clinical applications to develop transformative interventions that enhance patient outcomes and advance the field of precision medicine. Beyond my research endeavors, I have a keen interest in traveling, photography, cycling, swimming, and fitness training.

David Saul, BS

Research Associate, joined our group in September of 2021.

I come from the vibrant North Texas metroplex, where I developed a passion for both the arts and sciences. With degrees in bassoon performance and biology, my unique journey began with a successful career as an orchestral bassoonist. Driven by curiosity and a desire to make a broader impact, I transitioned into the world of research and relocated to Boston in 2021 to join Dr. Kim’s research group. I have gained expertise in gene editing and cardiomyocyte differentiation, blending my artistic precision with scientific innovation. I hope to one day found a cutting-edge biotech company.

Research Associate, joined our group in March of 2024.

I earned my Master’s degree in Environmental Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where I researched the impact of arsenic exposure on microRNA expression levels and its role in causing urinary tract cancers. I aspire to pursue a Ph.D. to study how environmental pollutants cause epigenetic changes leading to cardiovascular diseases and cancer. I am passionate about global and environmental health and try to practice sustainable and zero-waste living. Outside the lab, I enjoy cooking and gardening.

Antonia Dinicu, MS

Research Associate, joined our group in March of 2025.

I am originally from Bucharest, Romania and completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2022. My thesis investigated the impact of shear stress on paclitaxel production in plant cells. After graduation, I worked at MGH studying genetic modifications of organs, using lentiviral transduction. Interested in exploring a new area of research, I joined the Kim lab in 2025. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, attending workout classes, and playing pickleball.
